In 2010, Crown Leadership Academy was born with a bold vision—to cultivate leaders of creativity, courage, and integrity. Our journey began in a single rented space on Coleman Boulevard in Mt. Pleasant, SC. From there, we moved to Holy Cross on Sullivan’s Island before sharing a campus with Trident Academy on Wakendaw Road. Though each move brought space to grow, none alleviated the uncertainties of rising rental costs and independent landlords. Our hearts have been set on finding a permanent home for our school.
For years, we searched, hoped, and prayed. In late 2023, Hawkes Learning, the owner of 546 Longpoint Road, invited us to tour its nearly empty two-story brick building, which had formerly held a textbook publishing company. As we walked through the halls, we saw views of forested land providing privacy and security; we imagined vibrant classrooms and spaces where students could learn and thrive. An adjacent parcel, an additional acquisition, would give space for future athletic fields and media and arts education. We knew this was home.
Phase One:
By securing and renovating an existing structure, we can create our facility at a fraction of the cost of new construction. Owning our campus will provide financial stability, freeing us from rising rental costs and allowing us to focus on enhancing our students' educational experiences.
In early 2024, our school board hired CDS Solutions to support our fundraising efforts. We stepped out in faith with an initial goal of $2.9 million, and we are thrilled to share that we have already reached this milestone! These funds have allowed us to lease the building and begin necessary renovations, creating innovative learning spaces. A highlight of Phase One is also a thoughtfully designed playground by Carolina Parks and Play, the team behind Park Circle Playground in North Charleston. Thanks to the expertise of LFK Architects, HDR Engineering, and The Cornerstone Company, our vision is coming to life.
Now, we are setting our sights on an additional $600,000 to reach $3.5 million by June. This will help us secure financing to fund and complete Phase One of this project, which we anticipate will cost a total of $8.869 million.
With deep gratitude to the Lord and the Crown community, we look forward to moving into our new home this summer, ready to welcome students in August. But this is just the beginning.
Phase Two:
Building a gym and a lunchroom/auditorium adjacent to the building—a space where students will worship together each morning, share meals, and experience the joy of teamwork and resilience on the court. This addition is estimated to cost a total of $4 million.
Phases Three & Four:
Once the addition is complete, our goal is to purchase the first few acres of the property. This will help preserve its natural beauty while also expanding space for our students to play, create, and explore new opportunities in athletics, performing arts, and media arts.
More than just a move to a beautiful location, this is a legacy in the making—a permanent home where generations of Crown students will be equipped, empowered, and inspired. We can't wait to share new stories of His faithfulness.
And now, we're inviting you to join the story!
